MEDI-FUTURE, Inc. (CEO Joseph Lee), Korea's only dedicated women's healthcare company, was awarded a certificate by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on March 22nd in Jongro-Gu, Seoul for its selection into the "Columbus Project", a strategic support program for companies entering the US healthcare industry.

The Columbus Project, a jointly run by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Justice that is designed to assist domestic healthcare companies in expanding global influence and increasing US market share, will provide governmental support to MEDI-FUTURE and other selected companies through research and development, product licensing, and overseas marketing.

Having developed ‘Brestige’, Korea's first digital mammography system for early breast cancer detection MEDI-FUTURE has been selected for the project and has been recognized for its outstanding product quality and market competitiveness. In addition to MEDI-FUTURE, 41 other companies such as Dong-a Pharmaceuticals, Medison, and Amore Pacific have also been selected in the categories of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetics.

Joseph Lee, CEO of MEDI-FUTURE, commented, "Our selection into the Columbus project is significant from the perspective that the healthcare industry is growing rapidly in this ‘post-IT era’", adding that he expects many of the globally competitive "small giants" in the Korean healthcare industry to successfully enter the US market through this program.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare, elaborated on the government’s role, providing each company with a policy handbook on entering overseas markets, and also explaining its plans for a tiered support system managed with the Ministry of Justice.
